Getting There
Direct international flights from the UK (2.5 hrs) are available to the capital Sofia all year round from Heathrow with British Airways and from Gatwick with Bulgarian Air (www.air.bg). Most other major European carriers fly indirectly.
Bulgaria Air provides international direct flights from Western Europe to Bulgaria as well as quick domestic flights to various destinations in Bulgaria all year! There are frequent flights from London Gatwick and Manchester airports.
British Airways has direct flights from London to Sofia.
Wizz Air provides flights from many locations in the UK and Ireland to Sofia and Bourgas in Bulgaria.
Malev flys from multiple locations around Europe, most notably London Heathrow, Stansted and Gatwick as well as from American locations such as New York's JFK. Flights to Sofia and Varna are available from Malev in all seasons!
Hemus Air has flights from Continental Europe to Bulgaria. Flights are available to Varna, Sofia, and Bourgas from Austria, Germany and the UK among other locations.
Austrian Air has flights from Continental Europe to Sofia and seasonally to Varna.
Lufthansa has connecting flights from the UK and Continental Europe to Sofia and seasonally to Varna.
Alitalia has flights from UK, Italy and other European locations to Sofia.
Air France connects Sofia and Paris with seasonal flights to Bulgaria.

Sofia International Airport EAD (SOF)
The airport is situated six miles (10km) east of Sofia. Regular bus service 84 runs on a frequent schedule day and night from the bus station. Taxis are available, and passengers are advised to use O.K. SUPERTRANS taxis from outside the arrivals hall; their enquiries desk is located inside the arrivals hall. Most hotels and tourist resorts run their own airport shuttles. Car rental companies Avis, Hertz, Budget, Tani Rent and Sixt have desks located in the arrivals hall. The airport is well equipped with banks, bureau de change, ATMs, restaurants, cafeterias and bars, duty-free shopping, a chemist, travel agency, tourist information desk and first aid facilities. There is also a business lounge with Internet access, and a luggage-wrapping machine at departures. There is 24-hour short and long-term parking available in front of the terminal buildings. Varna International Airport (VAR)
The airport is situated on the western outskirts, about five miles (9km) from Varna. Public bus 409, which passes through central Varna and travels as far as Golden Sands resort, serves the airport; departures are from in front of the VIP hall. Taxis are available in front of International Arrivals. Many resorts run their own shuttle services to and from the airport. Car rental agents are on site at the airport including Avis, Hertz, Sixt and Europcar. The airport has currency exchange facilities, a large restaurant and duty-free shops. Bourgas Airport (BOJ)
The airport is situated six miles (10km) from Bourgas. Most passenger flights into Bourgas Airport are part of package holiday deals and visitors are conveyed by their host tour operators.
